Mankind had forgotten the old ways and no longer acknowledged the ancient evil powers that dwelled in the darkness. Alerted by The Inquisitor to this crime these evil beings had sent forth the DEAD ONES to annihilate us all! The DEAD ONES once freed from their temple would walk the earth, ancient, unstoppable, and without remorse, blasting our cities to dust and feasting on our souls.
But all was not lost… IF the Inquisitor could be shown that we had repented, that we accepted the darkness, that we were willing to suffer to please the ancient powers then perhaps he would NOT release the DEAD ONES, perhaps mankind, or at least some of it might be spared.
A gathering of the Hexan, a hidden race of spell casters was convened and it was decided to visit pain and horror onto the world of man, to show the Inquisitor that we had remembered the old ways and that we were willing to suffer. It was agreed that the Witches would unlock all manner of foul things…that spirits, monsters, and magic would be released with abandon!
Once more the Wicker Man would burn with screaming victims trapped within! Men would be cursed, changed into monsters and worse! The Hexan all over the world would channel the supernatural and set free things that had been sleeping for eons.
The Three Oldest Witches, Clotho, Lachesis and Dread Atrophos, would gather in an ancient grove where lay the stones of fate, the very fingers of antediluvian titan Cronus buried deep below in the living rock. The ancient spells would be cast on that night and on the risen island of YS, now a primal jungle, The King In Yellow would howl into the void to show that man accepted its role once more at the bottom of the cosmic food chain!
Would this gamble be enough to please the Inquisitor? Would the horrors and mysteries released to roam free be enough to stop the DEAD ONES?
The only thing certain was that once more the Witches would be given freedom to do as they wilt – Truly this would be the Season of The Witch!
