CRYPTID CHAOS
Return Of The Boogeyman!
Chapter 1: The Beyond
In the limitless space at the outer edge of all known dimensions exists the Beyond. The energies that are found there have no true form or motive except to hunger eternally. Occasionally when dimensions shift and drag against each other like vast interspatial tectonic plates some of the endless void leaks into the astral plane as a swirling mass of mindless darkness. Usually it imprints on the dreams and fears of intelligent creatures creating Nightmare Entities . These things are pulled by an almost irresistible gravity into the physical plane to take material form and feed on both flesh and emotion, usually embodying the powers and nature of legendary and cryptid creatures they now resemble. Given shape and purpose such things will stalk the earth forever feeding on their own particular flavor of life energy until destroyed.
Chapter 2: The Boogeyman
Sometimes however this Darkness from Beyond resists the pull to the Earth and remains immaterial giving it vast abilities to travel the earth and feed on countless victims unencumbered by the weaknesses of the flesh. One such thing known almost universally to all human cultures is called the Boogeyman, a fiend that enters the dreams of its victims often pulling them into its own weird dimension to drain their lives horribly in a particularly efficient manner. But after untold eons of such feasting the hunger of this twisted horror grew even more insatiable as is common of its kind and it desired to enter physically into our world and use its supernatural abilities to transform Earth itself into a bizarre living nightmare zone! 1931 the entity (Templated on an ancient Assyrian demon) that has been known universally as The Boogeyman was destroyed by the Illuminati in a decades long hunt that dissipated the fiend hopefully for good. But the energy from the Beyond that had powered this thing for centuries remained as it drifted aimlessly looking for a new host.
Chapter 3: The Host
Andrew Glockman had a troubled childhood and spent most of it asleep and dreaming to escape the horrors that surrounded him in his waking life. Homeless after fleeing the terrible orphanage of his youth, he spent his days digging through the vast mounds of garbage created by the bustling city of New York putting everything of value into a large filthy sack that was always at the ready. He began to develop an interest in puppets and dolls, posing them in gruesome tableaus in the tunnels near the garbage mounds. Fighting in World War 2 he developed a taste for killing after being exposed to horrific atrocities and stealthily committed many of his own. Returning to his childhood tunnels after the war he used newfound engineering and combat skills to build nightmarish scenes often populated by dead and in some cases still living victims, often recreating visions from his twisted dreams. The city was gripped in terror as the “Boogeyman Murders” claimed countless victims – some eyewitnesses reporting a trench coated figure dragging off still living victims in a filthy sack. Caught by the police he was executed in the Electric Chair in 1950.
Chapter 4: The Return Of The Boogeyman
The dark power from the Beyond that had been the original Boogeyman fused with Glockmans spirit when he died as it had been following him and haunting him most of his life. Now fully reformed, the Glockman/Boogeyman fed on the life energies of his victims, trapping them in horrific nightmare worlds from which they could not escape. After decades of this the desire to create such horror physically on Earth began to obsess the entity as it had in its previous incarnation. After 70+ years of gathering life energy it finally developed the power it needed and the plan that would allow it to succeed!
Chapter 5: The Plan
To accomplish this almost impossible feat the Boogeyman realized it needed a vast source of energy from the Beyond, energy that only existed in its fellow Nightmare Entities! It visited the dreams of Professor Glavin Claine, a senior research scientist at the secret laboratory known as The BOX and with skillful manipulations of this host and the dreams of numerous government officials created an expansive government mandate called HAMMER ( “Hunt All Monstrous Mythological Entities Ruling”) Primary to this effort was the design and fabrication of the Cryptid Crucible, a massive device that could locate and teleport the Cryptids to the BOX for containment and study.
Chapter 6: The Zoo
After the creation of the Crucible, great multitudes of Nightmare Entities were captured and imprisoned at the BOX as the Boogeyman readied itself to drain off their energies and enact its final plan – Physically enter our world and remake it as a living nightmare! The more intelligent of the Cryptids deduced this plan but were trapped by the power of the Crucible. As the Boogeyman began to drain them, the Cryptids infected the BOX Staff creating Urban Legends – human based horrors from modern folklore, and unleashed them to create mayhem! Freed In the Chaos The Cryptids engaged the now massive and powerful living Boogeyman in a Battle Royale to place a new Cryptid Creature at the top of the food chain!
