Deeper Into OBLIVION

The Mangler had long been a prisoner at the BOX and over time was coerced by its upper management to work on many of the dangerous tech/bio projects on site, including the powerful Cryptid Crucible designed to locate, teleport and contain cryptids.

His primary point of contact since incarceration had always been the mysterious First Citizen, the leader of the BOX, a shadowy figure whose true nature and identity has always been concealed. In order to get the Manglers help on certain high level projects, the Citizen was always happy to barter fresh “volunteers” for the gruesome surgeon’s ongoing personal studies in exchange for his powerful research and fabrication skills.

But after many years of unsuccessful experiments in his quest to find the source of emotion in the flesh, The Mangler needed a new angle and the First Citizen suggested an unusual idea to help his twisted prisoner. Why not use Buried Obelisk 10 as a gateway to a realm that would offer him more understanding of the topics he sought to master, a place called Oblivion?

The Mangler carefully studied the artifact and soon made contact with the dwellers of Oblivion.. Convinced of the new direction this knowledge offered he knew what must come next. As to why the First Citizen would suggest the Mangler follow this path and offer him the means to do it remains a mystery.

During the events of Cryptid Chaos and Mr. Grendel’s Birthday Party of Horrors the security systems at the BOX were disabled for several hours. The Mangler was able to quickly escape his confinement and after some reprogramming used the powerful Cryptid Crucible to teleport Grendel and his nightmare clowns away from the Box to an unknown location, ending at least temporarily their disruption of the facility. The Manglers next move was to summon 4 Avatars of Fear : The Avatar of The Unknown – The Feaster, The Avatar of Transformation – The Stitcher, The Avatar of Nightmares – The Boogeyman and The Avatar of Pain – The Render! Working together they now seek to “modify” human subjects, creating a symphony of emotion and pain sure to crack open Oblivion and allow the Mangler to finally get the answers he had been seeking all these years and the power to control all who live!
