Can You Survive The Robot Rampage?
The BOX, the top secret facility specializing in alien containment, paleo-cloning research, and advanced weaponry design had always held the deepest, darkest secrets in a special hidden chamber, the very thing that the base was named for. It was literally The BOX or more accurately “Buried Obelisk Ten” It seems that ten mysterious obelisks formed of an unknown metal had been discovered all over the planet, some sealed inside solid rock, some at the bottom of the ocean, and at least one in Earth’s orbit. But only one had ever shown any signs of “functioning” and that was Number Ten
Number Ten had vibrated like a tuning fork, sporadically emitted electrical energy and on one occasion had levitated 3 feet off the ground for over 23 minutes. Thus it was brought to the BOX 40 years ago to study and contain. Nothing extremely amazing happened in all that time until this morning when unexpected developments caused concern in all the Authorities from the Council who oversaw The BOX.
It seems that recent experimentation on reptilian lifeforms using unclassified DNA from a possible alien species caused a lapse in the control systems of the base including those systems that protected Number Ten. One of the subjects, a lizard-like human entered the chamber and performed some sort of “ritual” before melting into a puddle of goo at the foot of Number Ten. Following this, bursts of an unknown energy radiated in all directions from the Obelisk and all control was lost in the entire area. Secret backup cameras observed the automated robotics and cloning systems activate and begin digitally printing twisted metal and flesh hybrid lifeforms that suddenly sprang into horrible, unnatural life when energised by Number Ten.
Even when all power was cut off to the base, Number Ten kept all equipment in operation as more and more twisted things began coming to grotesque demi-life. These “chimera” were scanned by the back up systems and show to be neither living creatures or AI based lifeforms but rather something …other. Even more disturbing was the source of the power coming from Number Ten. Long thought to be artifacts from an alien civilization, our analysts have discovered that these energies emanate from an “extra dimensional source” aka the BOX artifact is from a completely different plane of existence!
Now the Chimera are actively constructing inexplicable equipment at the direction of Number Ten and the outlook is not good. Before we nuke the facility your team must enter and attempt to discover what is actually going on down there and put a stop to it!
